Our bespoke trail running guidance will help you achieve your running goals.
Days will typically involve a morning run, followed by recovery, and a later strength and conditioning session or goal specific discussion. Runs will include a variety of specific speed and hill work, recovery runs, and longer runs; depending on the length of time you are visiting.
We will put together strength and conditioning sets for you, based on video analysis of you running, highlighting any areas of deficiency. This can be especially beneficial for trail and mountain runners, looking to become efficient and durable over rough terrain. We have a variety of technical trails in the locality for you to practice running.v
Following your stay, we are happy to offer advice and follow-up support for any questions and queries that you may have.
We will contact you before you travel to complete our pre-travel questionnaire. This will help us to find out about your current fitness level and goals. If necessary, we can help you with your goal setting. We can then design your personal run performance training and optimise your time with us by using some of the trails local to our training base..
If you are preparing for a specific race, we will spend time beforehand analysing the race to plan precise sessions for you to enhance your training. This will also enable us to prepare discussions around any unique characteristics your chosen race may have
Your personal Introduction to Ultra Running Performance Training gives you focused preparation for trail and mountain ultras. Running from our mountain location at 1,000m altitude on some of the surrounding quiet and unspoilt trails, you'll feel inspired to undertake the quality training needed to tackle longer distance trail races.
Specific sessions help you to build technique on ascents, technical descents, develop pace, and find your ultra focus. Take away sessions include technique drills and functional strength training for you to incorporate in your own pre-race preparations.
Our aim is to support your training for your goal trail or mountain race. This training is designed for all levels of runner, particularly those newer to running who are about to embark on their first mountain ultra.
Situated in a stunning mountain-top location, our Multi-Day Performance Training gives you the chance to experience focused event preparation, on quiet unspoilt trails in the mountains and forests of rural Spain. As experienced multi-stage runners and race organizers ourselves we can help you develop your own race strategy, preparation, in-race nutrition and daily recovery plans.
Our goal is to help you build your multi-day running endurance, develop technique and improve your running performance. We will concentrate on building endurance and trail running technique for longer events. And of course, sessions take place on awe-inspiring trails with epic views across the Sierra Nevada.
Our Performance Heat Training Know How offers you the opportunity to run in hot-weather with adequate support during the months of July and August. You will gain the knowledge and experience to develop your own heat acclimation for future events, understanding how your body will react, and how best to manage your hydration and fueling.
We are experienced desert ultra runners (5 years living in the Middle East) and understand how to help you to improve your heat adaptation for running. Topics covered include effective hydration, nutrition, and self-care while running in extreme temperatures. Coached sessions are held on a variety of terrain, with support and regular breaks and cooling sessions.
Our Race Preparation Performance Training is designed for that last big build phase in your training. Ideally, scheduled around a month before your goal race, this Performance Training is especially designed to help you get your last block of training nailed with big miles, equipment and nutrition finalised, and your mindset and focus in the right place.
If possible, we’ll try and simulate the sections of the race you have lined up with topography, time of day/ night, aid station timing etc. We’re here to give you confidence in your preparations ready for your big event.
Hills come in all shapes, sizes, gradients, and on all different surfaces. We at Ultra Trail Spain have them all! Slow steady slogs, short steep scrambles, smooth rolling ascents – you name them and we can find them. Join us on for Running Hills Performance Training and we’ll help you develop the most efficient techniques to master hills. Going up and more importantly flowing back down again.
This course includes daily trail running sessions, plus strength and conditioning to help you master hill running when you don’t have regular access. You’ll leave us prepared to progress your training and tackle tough mountain trail and ultra races.
If planning the build up to your racing season is bewildering, then our Planning your Training performance course is what you need. We will combine time spent out on the trails with sit-down theory sessions. We will help you put together your own training programme taking into account the race you are preparing for, the time you have available, and your current fitness.
You will take away the knowledge for you to put together your own training programme now and into the future, enabling you to progress your performance, and optimise your ability.
Guests are accommodated in one of our two Casa la Cabra apartments. Located less than 300m from the centre of the village and its amenities, the apartments were designed and completed in 2017 with the outdoor enthusiast in mind. Each has its own private access, private patio, plenty of functional indoor space, bathroom, seating and well-equipped kitchen area. When you're not running, there's chance to relax. Our apartments are just a few steps from the nearest trail!
