About us

We are both experienced ultra runners, having competed in Europe and the Middle East over the last nine years. Sarah is a qualified personal trainer. We look forward to welcoming you to the trails around our home in Moclín, Andalusia, Spain.

We first discovered Moclín while staying with friends just before a multi-day ultra in the area. One step on the local trails and we were hooked. There are epic views of olive groves, pine forests and the Sierra Nevada mountain range at every turn. Be prepared to lose your heart.

Personal Trainer Profile: Sarah Whittington

Sarah is also a UK-trained CYQ Level 3 Advanced Personal Trainer & Outdoor Fitness Coach, and a CPD Indoor Cycling Instructor and CPD Suspension Training Trainer.

She is an experienced ultra runner having completed a variety of ultra distances from 50km to 100 miles, including the IAU world championships. Both Steve and Sarah have successfully completed five-day staged-ultras.

Sarah has also coached a variety of people - runners of all distances and backgrounds - from 10km races upwards. She has also coached triathletes to Ironman distance while in the Middle East, where the desert climate made all outdoor sporting endeavors that bit tougher. Sarah, as race director, also worked alongside former GB Olympic marathoner, Liz McColgan Nuttall, in establishing an international marathon.

Profile: Steve Farnham

While in the Middle East, Steve conceived, developed and organized the first-ever ultra distance trail race across the deserts of Qatar. Ultra Trail Qatar was designed as a community event to encourage all sections of the country’s diverse socio-economic population to come together in a solidarity run. A series of shorter events over the winter months, culminated in a grand finale 50km run. All support was voluntary, with runners’ friends and family giving their time to man aid stations. These pop-up events were highly successful in introducing over 80 different people of more than 30 different nationalities to the joy of trail running.
