Typical Walking Holiday Itinerary

Day 1 – Welcome to Moclin

Arrive at Malaga or Granada airport. Transfer to Moclín. Depending on arrival time there will be a light lunch. Opportunity to wander around the historic town and castle and sample the views. Welcome dinner of typical Andalucian fare in village bar.

Day 2 - Discover Moclin

Walk in the local area, around 14km in length, with an opportunity to find out about the history and culture of this famous area from 360 degrees. We'll climb along a ridgeway to look across at the town, before we descend into the local gorge and follow the Rio Velillos. We'll then find our way back up to Moclín, enjoying regular stops to enjoy the views over Granada and the Sierra Nevada behind. Dinner at village bar.

Day 3 – The tour of the Atalyayas

Moclín's famous watchtowers are a central theme for today's walk of around 9km, as we keep them in view finding our way through what seems like a sea of olive groves and our final destination of Tozer, home to an important Arab cemetery and recent archaeological investigations. Dinner at village bar.

Day 4 – A tale of two castles

Setting out from the village of Mures, we'll head out on a walk of around 12km on what must have once been a well traversed route between Moclín and Alcala la Real castles. With tantalizing glimpses of the town of Alcala we'll reach our destination in time for a late lunch and the opportunity for you to visit the castle or enjoy free time around the town. Free evening.

Day 5 – Rest day

An opportunity to do as much or as little as you wish. We're happy to provide timetables and maps for you to visit Granada and sample some of the attractions the city has to offer.

Day 6 – The Parapanda calls

Today we'll walk around 15km in the foothills of the Sierra de Parapanda to the historic town of Illora. A traditional Spanish town, the place bustles with music and culture. After a picnic lunch, we'll stop off at the Moorish town of Montefrio. Dinner at village bar.

Day 7 – From the lake

Starting on the shores of Colomera, we'll make our way over the hills to the village of Olivares, with views across the vega of Granada. Walk around 13km. Opportunity to walk back to Moclín after lunch or we can drive. Farewell dinner at village restaurant.

Day 8 – Departure day
