Our Road Half Marathon Training performance running camp is an intensive short-course to boost your endurance fitness levels in time for the spring half marathon season. With varied sessions focusing on endurance, speed and power, targeted on your individual goals you’ll get to live, eat and breathe half marathon training over the five days. We’ll take a look at some of the key training sessions you can use in your own personal race training, discuss cross-training methodology and race day preparations and tactics so that you can squeeze everything out of your training.

Road Half Marathon Training Camp (approx £553)

Our Road Half Marathon Training course is designed for those in the peak few weeks of their training schedule. You will have built up a moderate length of endurance based runs and now want to really use this strength in putting down some speed ready for your race – and where better place than on the hills at altitude? During this intensive course, we’ll undertake double training sessions on three days. You will be training hard but in controlled and supported sessions to ensure that you get the most out of your training.

27 February to 3 March 2017 

Our Road Half Marathon Training course is an intensive short-course to help you nail that PB in your early spring event. It will help you to harness your pace in your peak training. We’ll give you some ideas for key training sessions, put together some ideas for intervals and tempos, discuss injury prevention and sensible recovery plans, as well as race strategy and nutrition.

Training Camp Duration:

  • Starts: 3:00pm Monday 27 February

  • Finishes: 1:00pm Friday 3 March

Ability of runners

This training holiday is suitable for those looking to improve their half marathon times. You do not need to have run a half marathon in order to take part in this camp, but we do suggest that you will get the most out of the training if your weekly long run is at least 18km. Most training will be undertaken on tarmac surfaces, although we will go off road for sections of our ‘easy’ recovery training.

Our training playground

Moclín is the perfect running training base. The village sits at just over 1,000m – so you’re just into altitude training and will gain the associated benefits if you are coming from sea level or lower. The hill training available is outstanding, with shorter, steeper climbs and longer 5km uphill sections suitable for intense tempo sessions. The surrounding roads are virtually traffic free.

Specific training

Each day’s training will last between 2-3 hours (depending on your ability) and will include a mix of running, drills, and strength and conditioning. We’d suggest that you schedule an easy/ drop back week before arriving with us so that you are not fatigued before training commences. We’ll include some of the key training sessions you can adopt in your own future training planning, as well as event specific talks and discussions to help you prepare for your race season. Topics include mental preparation, effective hydration, and race day strategy.

Other activities

This is an intensive course and we want you to get the most out of it, however, the historic town of Moclín is well-worth exploring and we will try to incorporate castle and museum tours with English guides into the schedule. 

Accommodation

All rooms are en suite and very comfortable. We take rooms on a multiple occupancy basis, however if single occupancy is required, there is an additional charge of 20 euros for the week, which can be paid on arrival. Please request at time of booking (note: limited availability for single occupancy). Several of the larger rooms feature a full-height mezzanine level which means four guests can be accommodated comfortably and with increased privacy. This quirky addition, is just one of many which adds to the homely feel of Hostal Rural Albergue Moclín.

Travel

The performance training camp will start at 3pm on Monday and finish at 1pm on Friday. We will collect you from Malaga or Granada airport. Malaga airport is around 2 hours drive from Moclín and Granada airport is around 30 minutes. If your Monday/ Friday flights do not coincide, we can book an extra night’s accommodation at a small cost. Please ask for details. We can also supply directions if you are making your own way to Moclín.

    Just had fantastic week with Steve and Sarah in Andalucia. I had a perfectly tailored program that pushed me hard but was exactly what I wanted. They both ran with me each day and organised everything down to the last detail. The accommodation was perfect – simple but very comfortable. I ate breakfast at the accommodation and the evening meal in one of several local restaurants which was always great food. Lunch was a picnic or packed lunch dependent on the running schedule. All food was in the price in fact I spent nothing the whole time I was there. The area is stunning and provides endless options for beautiful trails of varying difficulty. Steve and Sarah have a great local knowledge and every day was a different route. I can’t really rate this trip highly enough. I had never met Steve or Sarah prior to going but have definitely made new friends and 100% will be going back to train with them in the future. Be specific about what you want and they will be able to provide it. Massive thanks Steve and Sarah and hope to catch up again soon.

    Ultra trail Spain running holiday was such a great experience for me, but the after care from Sarah has been brilliant. Since returning Sarah has been fantastic in advising me on many questions I had with regards to writing my own plan.

Ultra Trail Spain provides running holidays & walking holidays and performance run coaching in and around Andalusia, Spain.

BOOKING POLICY

  • Full payment is due 30 days prior to the start of the holiday/ training camp.
  • Failure to pay the outstanding balance by the due date may mean forfeiting your place on the holiday/ training camp and forfeiting any deposit.

CANCELLATION POLICY

  • 100% refund if cancellation occurs 45 days or more prior to start date*
  • 50% refund if cancellation occurs between 28 and 44 days prior to start date*
  • 25% refund if cancellation occurs between 21 and 27 days prior to start date*
  • 0% refund if cancellation occurs within 21 days of start date
* Less Paypal, accommodation, and any other administration fees

We cannot guarantee refunds within 21 days of holiday/ training camp start date but we understand that runners/walkers can get injured. We therefore try to support our participants and do what we can. It may be possible for you to transfer your place to a friend, so please do contact us in case of injury closer than 21 days of holiday/ training camp start date.

Ultra Trail Spain takes your safety and wellbeing very seriously, however it and its agents cannot be held liable for any loss, damage, injury, or illness caused as a result of any careless, reckless or negligent act you may undertake. You are advised to follow the safety instructions of staff.

On registering for a running / training camp / walking holiday you are stating that you are in a suitable physical condition, without medical contraindications precluding you from running / walking activities. You will be required to complete a medical evaluation in your assessment form before arrival. You are advised to notify Ultra Trail Spain of any changes to this. You will be required to complete a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire on arrival.

Running / Walking is recognized as a safe outdoor activity, however there is a risk of tripping or falling. We ask you to sign a liability waiver on arrival and require you to organize sufficient travel / medical insurance. Registration in an Ultra Trail Spain holiday / training camp assumes acceptance and compliance of these terms and conditions.

HEALTH INSURANCE

It is important that you are insured for the activities you will undertake during your holiday. You are required to purchase travel insurance to cover medical expenses for trail running / trail walking while abroad. For EU citizens it is good practice to carry your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) with you.

ITINERARY CHANGES

Ultra Trail Spain reserves the right to alter programs and itineraries due to weather or other conditions outside our control, to ensure the safety of participants and staff. No responsibility is accepted for losses, expenses due to delays, changes of flights or other services due to circumstances outside our control.

OUR INSURANCE

Ultra Trail Spain has comprehensive liability insurance and operates under the conditions of this policy. 

PRIVACY POLICY

Ultra Trail Spain takes your privacy seriously. We will never sell or distribute information, personal or otherwise, you disclose to the company. We do however maintain accurate and up-to-date records for the purposes of marketing and communication with current and former clients. We will ask your permission at the start of your running holiday/ training camp / walking holiday to use any images and digital media gathered during the course of the program for future use in marketing and promotional purposes. This includes posting on social media.
